How to use cowcatcher — presentation recording tool

What is cowcatcher?

Cowcatcher is a web tool that allows you to record a slide presentation with your facial expressions, which is useful for producing videos as an online sales tool in the age of With Corona, or for use at events such as weddings.

Also, since the entire process is completed within the user’s browser, there is no risk of leaking confidential slides from the company. All you need is a PC with a webcam. (A good microphone might improve the sound…)

As of September 2021, we have only tested the software on Chrome browsers; FireFox may be supported, but Safari on Mac and iPhone/iPad are not available.

The generated video will be in webm format. The generated video is in webm format and can be uploaded directly to Youtube.

How to use cowcatcher

Preparation

Export your slides in PDF format from your slide creation software such as PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slide.

Drag and drop the exported slides to the upload form/select them from the file selection dialog that opens from the button. (Although it is called “upload”, it will not be sent to an external server. Don’t worry.)

After the upload form, don’t forget to think about what you’re going to say in your presentation!

Start your presentation

After you upload your slides, the screen will automatically switch to the recording screen.

By default, the webcam image is displayed in the upper left corner. You can change it to the position you want before you start recording. At the moment, you can choose top right or full screen. (You can also switch between them while recording).

When you are ready, start recording.Press the Start Recording button.

Making a presentation

Press the slide control buttons to turn the pages of your slides. You can also change the display position of the webcam image during your presentation.

Then, speak expressively.

Ending the presentation

Press the record button one more time to end the presentation. (There is no pause function now).

After that, the video file will be created automatically and the download button will be activated when it is ready to be downloaded.
